A bit of history: The “5 schei de mona” originates from an Austrian coin, the Pfennig, with the inscription “schei de munze,” which circulated during the Lombardy-Veneto Kingdom under the Austrian Empire, between the late 18th and mid-19th centuries. Over time, the Venetians—always practical and ironic—simplified the name to “schei de mona.”
