Glyptic Art Earrings with Mythological Subjects: Arion and the Dolphin and Athena the Owl – In our Venice workshop near the Bridge of Sighs, where the light of the canals caresses the gold, works that exude an ancient soul are still created today. These earrings, hand-engraved on carnelian according to the ancient glyptic art, retain the precision and grace of the original engravings created in our atelier since the 1950s.
Set in 18kt yellow gold, they are circular, 15 mm in diameter, and enshrine two symbols of wisdom and harmony: Arion the citharist and the dolphin. The Athenian owl, a symbol of wisdom and the light that guides the mind. Historical Note: Arion, poet and musician of Methymna, according to legend, was saved by a dolphin enchanted by his song: a myth that celebrates the power of art and the faithfulness of nature. The owl, on the other hand, was the sacred animal of Athena, goddess of wisdom and the arts: its watchful gaze watched over cities and the thoughts of men, representing keen vision and the ability to penetrate the darkness of ignorance. Two figures, carved in stone, recount the eternal dialogue between beauty and knowledge, between the sea and the mind, between Venice and Athens.
